On Sunday October 25, 2026, we said a sorrowful goodbye to Katherine Yvonne Pinedo as she spent her last moments in peace and surrounded by loved ones at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. She fought a valiant battle against an aggressive lung infection.

Kat was born on February 4th, 1984 in Santa Barbara, CA to Edward Olivas and Michele Rangel. Kat attended Santa Barbara local schools and finally graduating from Santa Barbara High School in 2002. She married her high school sweetheart Daniel Pinedo in 2006 and in 2010 they welcomed their baby girl and only child, Belissia Pinedo, into this world. One of her proudest moments of her life; becoming a mother.

After graduating high school, Kat started her banking career at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust for many years. In the last two years she worked as the Office Manager at PLC Construction in Carpinteria. Kat loved and excelled in her careers. She valued any opportunity to contribute to her young family.

Keeping in line with making her dreams come true, with the help and support of her family, Kat recently attended Ventura college to earn her accounting degree.

Katherine enjoyed many hobbies where she connected with her large network of friends and family. She loved crafting, baking and cooking meals for her family.

Kat was very involved in her Carpinteria community. Always looking to help, she volunteered at Belissia’s elementary school; helping with fundraisers for the local dance studio and assisting behind the scenes as a dance mom for years. As Belissia grew, Kat continued to be involved at Carpinteria High School to assist where needed for the Carpinteria Cheerleading Team. She became a cheer mom and a valued member of the Carp parents and families. Kat loved being there to encourage Belissia’s growth and interests in any direction it took them.

Kat loved helping others and being present with her large extended family, whether it was having a good laugh, taco parties, birthday parties, and fun holidays. She always brought her whole heart and talents with her everywhere she went.

Katherine Pinedo is survived by her husband Daniel, Daughter Belissia and her mother Michelle. She is preceded in death by her father Edward Olivas.

A funeral Mass for Katherine Pinedo will be held on Monday, Nov. 9, 2026 at 9:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church in Carpinteria. A graveside service will follow at Carpinteria Cemetery.

The Pinedo family wants to thank the many families, friends and our Carpinteria community for coming together for Kat and our family during this unexpected loss. We are so thankful and blessed to be a part of this wonderful community of friends and family.
