IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Fuentes

Jose Ramon Fuentes
1954-2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Ramon Fuentes, beloved husband,
father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 20, 2024, in Santa
Barbara, California, at the age of 70. Born in Mexico City on August 31, 1954, to Agustin and
Maria Fuentes.
Ramon is survived by his beloved wife, Jennie Fuentes, whose companionship was a light in his
life. Together, they built beautiful memories including countless concerts at the Bowl, trips to
Laughlin, and enjoying the company of their family and friends.
Survivors: children: Jose Ramon Fuentes, Jamie Marie Gibson, Melissa Nicole Fuentes,
Giancarlo Fuentes, and eleven grandchildren. Siblings: Blanca Fuentes, Ana Fuentes, Susana
Alcantar, Maria Elena Nevarez, and Eduardo Fuentes. Preceded by sister Beatriz Fuentes.
Ramon attended Guadalupe Elementary School, Santa Barbara Junior High & Santa Barbara
High School. Ramon enlisted and served in the US National Guard for ten years where he
excelled and gained the notoriety of his superiors. His meticulousness and hard work made
him stand out amongst his fellow soldiers and ultimately it afforded him an opportunity to
pursue a career as a mechanical draftsman. Ramon worked tirelessly for over twenty years in the
field and was most proud of the fact that he always left the lights on.
Throughout his life, Ramon cultivated friendships that radiated warmth and positivity. His strict demeanor and earnestness was known by all who crossed paths with him. Those who were close to him knew his generosity, kindness, and vibrant spirit that touched the lives of many. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. A storyteller at heart, he connected deeply with both family and friends through tales of his experiences, intermixed with his love for music and culture.
As we gather to celebrate Ramon's extraordinary life, we will remember the lessons he imparted, the laughter he shared, and the passionate love he gave. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends as we carry forward his spirit of love, kindness, and resilience.
